4th of July

Easy Morning Breakfast - delicious cantaloupe with a soft boiled egg and bacon.  The melon this summer is simply devine.  It was a perfect start to the holiday and just enough energy to get me through the parade at Palisades.

Palisades holds what I think is THE local parade in town and is worth checking out.

This is a true small town, neighborhood event - lots of plenty of character, lots of good humor and hometown pride and a picnic with hot dogs and watermelon afterwards! It really it worth skipping the larger federal parade and heading over the Palisades for the real thing.

 

A perfect end to a lovely, lazy day - a tex-mex inspired grill with fresh guacamole before watching the fireworks from the balcony.  The fireworks weren't particularly notable this year - hazy muggy weather detracted from ideal viewing conditions - but it was a nice end to a lovely long weekend.
